Tomorrow we hit Vicksburg. Stopped for water at a Bunge grain elevator plant and learned about their industry. Off to bed we go with croaking frogs as ambience.
Back on the river today. Ended up south of the Greenville bridge. Mosquitos are relentless.
Southern hospitality and a pack of ribs cooked by the amazing Hazel Loveless persuaded up to stay another night near Benoit, MS.
Saw a dozen boats parked along a sandbar where we thought to be the middle of nowhere. Turns out they have a party every Sunday there. Mosquitos are annoying.
Wild blackberries with oatmeal equals delicious breakfast. Made it to Helena, AR and ended up staying there because shopping took longer than anticipated.
Some days are harder to keep going than others. We played and sang to pass time. At the end of the day, a beautiful sandbar awaited us making the day worthwhile
Explored more of Memphis. Saw the ducks at Peabody Hotel, looked at the Gibson guitar plant, went by Sun Studios, & shared a rack of bbq ribs at BB Kings.
Made it to Memphis. We walked around Mud Island. Saw a scale model replica of the lower Mississippi. Relaxed on Beale Street for the evening.
Very calm day. Made good time and camped on a sandbar less than 20 miles from Memphis. The stars and moon are beautiful tonight.
